About

Medgyne Stevencia Dumé holds a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology from the University of Ottawa. She is a member of the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) and of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA). She previously earned a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and worked for six years in a hospital setting alongside other care providers. There she supported clients needing psychological care for trauma, depression, anxiety, relationship difficulties, stress management, body image, self-esteem, substance abuse, and psychotic disorders. Her mission is to help you reach a better understanding of yourself and of your relationships with others, in a setting where you can explore your circumstances, your thoughts, and your emotions calmly and without judgment — and to help you develop new behavioural and cognitive strategies. Her therapeutic approach combines several methods, including cognitive behavioural therapy, interpersonal therapy, person-centred therapy, emotion-focused therapy, and feminist therapy. That range allows the work to be adapted to your specific needs and your own goals. Together, you will find effective tools and strategies for meeting your day-to-day challenges, building your independence and working toward a calmer life. Her philosophy is that everything is temporary. What matters is not to lose sight of yourself, to take care of yourself, to get back up after a fall, and to aim higher. Through her work, it is always a pleasure to see how clients change after a few sessions of therapy. The most profound and most interesting thing she has learned as a mental health professional is that there is always a glimmer of hope; what matters is believing in it and acting on it.
